A NIGHT OF MY LIFE... MASTER PIECE TO ME

A night i can never forget... yesterday i had the most wonderful experience of my life. I was on a concert, a rock concert, and not just a rock concert but a concert where my band "RANA HASAN PROJECT", Akash, OVERLOAD & most importantly ALI AZMAT was performing. I've witnessed a few live concerts. i've been to Shafqat Amanat Ali's concert, Josh's, Call's, Karavan's, Shehzad Hameed's, The Band O2's, Akash's and others but have never witnessed something so huge in my life. It was a night at RAFI PEER FESTIVAL 2008.

The nite started by my band "RANA HASAN PROJECT". they did a couple of songs and the crowd loved it .. because i was back stage so i was unable to see people jumping or clapping but at the end of every song crowd roared like hell. It wasn't a huge crowd but the response was huge.

The came a punjabi local rapper, HAIDER ZAIDI. He was gud but nowhere near BOHEMIA. But he was OK. He did a couple of track and left.

The it was AKASH. Man they were rocking. By this time i was now infront of stage sitting in the first line. AKASH was pretty much what i was expecting, AALA. SAM and KENNY and rest they rocked the night for about 20mins. the it was some new young kids band "Boston Coastal". Pretty much GOTHIC and EVIL. Im not that much into music thingui, so much that i can guess which genre was that exactly but to me it was HARD ROCK or heavy metal. They were nirri khup. THEY disappointed me big time. I was thinking that why the hell are they here, but never the less. May be they can get better in future. But yeah there music was gr8 but upto few mins when they started. Coz there entrance was pretty much an instrumental. a 3-4 min instrumental and then there vocalist came and he made things worst.

Then Shehzad Hameed came. Im not a big fan of him. I've heard in a couple of concerts before but never like it. Yesterday i liked him upto and extent.

Then came the Overload, the band who impressed me on their first ever live performance at IM Awards, but mind it i saw it on TV and not even live. it was a pre-recorded show. Today i heard them live for the very first time and man it was mind blowing.
This time they had a new Saein in their band. He was from DASKA
and man did he carried the audience with him to a whole new level of dancing and enjoying. Farhad the lead member of Overload, he took me away with his drum skills. Their 3 new songs were awesome, their new lead singer, the chick, lotsa guys thought she was sexy, some called her a B#### but anywayz it was something over all, i mean the band performance.

And then came the master blaster, the original by all mean, "ALI AZMAT". man he was so amazing. This was the first time i was listening to a pakistani rock legend live. The very first song he did was mine favourite "GALLAN" and it was awesome & aala by all means. Then on and on and on. The came the legenedary song in its own, "PAPPU YAAR TANG NA KAR"... mind blowing. Guyz i dont have any words for what i witnessed there last night. MAHI, GARAJ BARAS, NA RE NA, YEHI DOSTI HAI... u name it and ALI AZMAT sang it. At first the crowd was pretty much dead .... but when PAPPU YAAR came everything came to life.

LONG STORY SHORT. I wish everyone of u would have been there. Dont know, dont care if anybody liked it or not. But i was taken away with the DHOL & Rock of OVERLOAD and ALI AZMAT's performance. Omran was a masterpiece in his own.

To me it was a night of my life... i can never forget this night for a very long time. I wish i can go on tommorow and on 22nd too. As STRINGS is coming tommorow and on 22nd it is FUSION NITE. Mekaal Hasan Band will be there performing. I had a vision that how great musician perform at live, ALI AZMAT, RANA HASAN PROJECT, AKASH and ALI AZMAT... they togetherly truely proved that they are good.

A New MILESTONE 4 the Paki Band "CALL"

Well well well...... Long time no see....
Its all becoz during this past about 1 Year. nothing clicked me or touched my sense of music. Though in this past year i've been through a lot. My taste for music has changed but still the desire for quality and class remains the same...

Gotta admit Pakistanis whenever they come up with something they come up big time.. Call one of the most famous bands of Pakistan, they've reached to another milestone by composing and arranging a song for an upcoming Indian Movie "Ek Chalees ki Last Local". Now they've finally entered into the world of Bollywood.. I hope u dont realise how big it is to me.

Anywayz i guess its time for me to say something about what i'm loving the most these days. Starting of with a deep deep high tone sound of some instrument. As if there are whales shouting under the big blue sea or dolphins communicating with each other. Thats how i feel about that sound. Anywayz lyrics start of with Junaid lyrics "Woh kehte hain na jo hota hai achai ke lia hota hai ..... ghulut kehte hein". Then came Xulfi, the music, drums, Dj stuff, Orchestra on the background. Guitar and the soft tone sound of XULFI. Thats all a song needed to wake the person inside me who wants to praise the music all day long.

I remember when i first heard "Pukaar" by Call. I thought it was a rock band, then i heard "Nishaan", that forced me to think surely they're rock band. "Sub Bhula ke" and "Bicher ker bhi" changed my view about the band. I realised that these guyz are more creative than what i thought. Then the album was released. I bought it, heard it .... and it was a shock to me coz i wasn't expecting Call to give us such variety of taste in their album.

Then after their album. They gave us "Kul Hamara Hai", an awesome song. It was something that clicked me deep in the heart. Then for a while they're again outta scene. I remember when i first attend their concert it was such an awesome xperience that no1 can think of. It was the night at my University, Call came on the concert there. I heard them and i realised these guyz are more than just a traditional Pakistani Rock Band. They're more rocking and kool in Live Performance. That was a brand new image of Call to me that night.

After the arrival of Call in this music Industries, things have changed big time. Nothing has remained the same. At first I thought that they're was LP from International Scene, then came EP, i thought finally we have someone who can atleast dare to compete with them. But Call, thats the biggest thing I believe has happened to Pakistani Muzik Industry. Now we have some1 who can not only just compete with bands on International Level but can also beat others on their level of diversity.

I remember how i used to admire Junoon and Vital Signs back in 90's but things have absolutely changed after the arrival of Call. and now my choice of favourites starts of with Call and ends on Call. Alone Xulfi, Junaid and the rest might not be anything but together the whole band CALL breaks the barrier of being awesome ..... they reach the next level of peak...they've brought new level of challenges to music bands. They're like the brutal force that no1 can stop.

DASTAAN BY GURUS TRILOGY

Gurus Trilogy, a new upcoming band with such a mature music. Man if u've ever listened to Vital Signs back in 90's, they sounded really mature back then but it really took some time for such perfection but these Gurus have achieved such a high standard of music so quickly. Dastaan being their first song aired on Television has really done what it was supposed to do, touching people heart so that Gurus can take a stand in the main streame. The song right on the start having a flute and ending up on the flute, man it sounds really kool. The Piano, the guitar, the drums, the flute; I dont have enough words to praise the perfection shown in playing each & everyone of these instruments.

The lyrics of the song are really good. The romantic environment provided by the song is just amazing. The vocalist (sorry I dont know the name) but has a really sweet voice, having proper music study really makes a singer being on top of the rest. He has advantage that he has learnt Classical Music which is considered to be the basic in Indo-Pak music history. The Sur & Taal of the song is perfect. I hope these new comers are really going to have a major impact on the Paki Music Scene. They're going to be a trend setter (Inshallah).

Dastaan as the name says it all has a story of two lovers. A really really sweet song. I wont say I've just tasted the Dominos Pizza and that kinda real kool and so is the song. It tastes so good. I heard the song on a Live performance shown on TV. But really these guyz really kool in their music. I really want to Buy their Debut Album which is already released in market. Their may be good singers out there in the main streame but even though the Gurus are a upcoming band but they've already set a standard of class. Covering I believe almost all generations of current era. The youngsters, the 30's and the oldies who alwayz classic music. Gurus have covered em' all. You can either download or streame the song from

SILSILAY THE OST OF TELEFILM "THE EARLY DAYS"

Sisilay, the sound track of a telefilm that was shown on GEO a few months back. A telefilm on a typical student life. A student who went to Karachi from Lahore and completes his Graduation in Bussiness Administration from City University. A life style of atleast 85% University Students is shown in the tele film. The Telefilm is about of 1 Hr in duration but is of new style and theme.

I have never seen even a single telefilm before so to me that was one hell of an experience. The ups and downs, the background music, the editing, the direction; I like it all the way from top to bottom. The telefilm shows how a student went to University with his dream world and when that dreamland was shattered, his whole life was just like stopped and then he came back to life and blah blah blah.

Anywayz the reason im writing this blog is the soundtrack of this telefilm. A perfectly composed and sung song by Somair and Tahir. I heard the song while i was watching a scene of the telefilm, it touched my music senses just about then. I searched for the song after then and downloaded it and since then I believe there is not even a single day when i haven't heard the song.

It was like "ab to aadat si hai mujh ko".

The guitar work in the music composition is really awsome and the beat given to the music with the drum. It is like choclate toping on donuts. The lyrics of the song, "ankhoun mein sapne hein dil mein hain armaan, chahia ye zameen mujhe choona aasmaan" ofcourse really motivating and the "aaaa aaaaaa aaaaaaaaa" is really kinda kool. I like it. The video of the song comprises of clips taken from the telefilm. Actually I really dont have enough words to praise the song properly. My dictionary has already ran out of words to praise Somair n' Tahir. Even though i agree that im a big fan of Pakistani Underground Scene, even more than the main streme but u've to admit that Somair & Tahir have really done a marvolous job. You can either download or streame the song from

Cover song "Yaarian" by Abbas and W.A.L.E.E.D

Guyz I've just heard a cover song by Abbas Ali khan feat. W.A.L.E.E.D, the song name is "Yaarian". Almost all the paki music fanz know "Vital Signs" really well. A band of late 80's to the 90's that really changed the music scene along with Nazia and Zohaib. They were the pioneers of their era. Lots of ppl from their time and even after them paid tribute to those pioneers in different wayz. One way of adoring them was to sing cover songs. A lots of singers and artists have tried the cover songs.. Many succeeded bcoz of the original fame of the song sung by Vital Sings, many got hit because the songs were really good even when they were covered.

"Abbas Ali Khan" a singer with high pitch but sweet sound when came up into the pakistani music scene with his first song he was a hit right from the start. The nice melodic voice and the sweetness coming out of his throat got him a place in paki music fanz. But his breakthrough success was when he realeased "Sun re", then "Teri Yaad feat. W.A.L.E.E.D". That was the moment when people started realizing that this guy is really going to be someone like "Vital Signs or Nizia, Zohaib".

Now after an almost 3 month gap he came up with a cover song named "Yaarian". The song was originally sung by "Vital Sings" and was a hit even back then in their era. But even with the cover song "Abbas and W.A.L.E.E.D" togetherly have done a really gr8 job. Being a rapper W.A.L.E.E.D has really put the beat of the modern era and Abbas with his melodic voice really touched the hearts deeply. Even though W.A.L.E.E.D's rap is sometime difficult to understand because the vocals are not clear but he really raps like ma mature person and with a mature rapper kind of voice and accent. To me the song is worthy of given a try.

To dnld the song chk out www.pmx.pakstop.com and then pass ur comments. I hope any person who can understand both English and Urdu is going to like the song in no time.
